Wonderful dinner out tonight - great food, amazing flavours, excellent service.

The steak was amazing, as well as wine and the service. Ambience and decor was quite modern and pleasant. I will recommend to anyone who wants to go.

Steak house comes highly reviewed, but it was crap Got the T-Bone, both mine and my partners steaks were cooked exactly how we wanted but the steaks themselves were just terrible. Cutting them felt like sawing wood and eating it was like chewing rawhide. One of the toughest steaks I have had. To make it worse, when asked how it was, I told the truth, and I also said, I wasn't looking to make a fuss about it, but the waiter took this as a challenge to prove me wrong, even going so far to bring out a raw packaged steak from the kitchen to "show me" it was good. This is the reason people don't want to say if it's not good, not looking for an argument over it, just answering the question. We had to ask him to go away and let us eat. We finished, paid and left. Food, at least steaks we had, rubbish quality Atmosphere not good with hovering waiter Hostess was lovely thou. We won't be back, far too many good steak houses in Christchurch to risk this place again.

We love this restaurant. We have been here many times over the years and have never had a bad experience. The staff are really friendly and very good at what they do. The food is excellent.

Wonderful evening at Jaba Grill and Bar on Valentines day. We had the most amazing sirloin and ribeye steaks ever!! Lovely service too - well worth a visit.

Great food and atmosphere. Our two boys declared it the best meats ( one steak one ribs) they had ever eaten.

Jaba was the perfect place to spend the last night of our month-long visit to New Zealand. The steaks were divine, cooked to perfection and accompanied by delicious Merlot. The charming host/proprietor made our evening even more enjoyable - our favourite restaurant in Christchurch without a doubt!

Ambiance cozy and elegance, staff were friendly , great food. Recommended. Thank you Jaba grill. Will come again.

Food was ok. Entree was served 15-20mins after taking the order. But our mains were served after an hour from the time we got our entree. The next table got their food first but we came in first.

I don't usually leave public reviews, but as this is private (I think), I don't mind sharing. We've been to Jaba many times due to the consistency - always perfectly cooked (medium rare) steaks. However, yesterday, my ribeye was pretty much well done instead of the medium rare I ordered. Still tasty, but a lot tougher and more cooked than usual. Perhaps the usual cook was away on holiday? Another diner had the same issue with an over-cooked steak, and another diner had a very senewy cut of ribeye, which she didn't finish. We didn't want to make a big fuss, so we paid and moved on elsewhere for dessert, but it was a shortfall from the usual foodie experience we have at Jaba. Staff and service were friendly as usual. Nice relaxing evening with lovely staff that worked well. Nice steak meal but the extra bowl of chips was ruined with the bucket of slat added in the kitchen.

Jaba delivered a fantastic dinner and I’d happily return—especially for those fillets.

May not come back as we couldn't hear our selves with another noisy table.

Overall nice experience and service. Totally recommend bread and dip, squid, hereford sirloin and beef rib! However the rocket salad was a bit too sweet for our liking. And shame they dont do takeaway for h&s reason which is understandable but other f&b could do it so was a bit dissapointed to not able bring back our unfinished portion as the overall dishes were really good and filling portion esp the meat. Also love the lychee soda! Do check this place out!

Best meal we've had in NZ! Both Steaks cooked to perfection with stunning authentic flavour! Spoke with the friendly owner whilst dining in. Great would highly recommend!

Wait time was horrendous. Waiter forgot to put our order through and after an hour of NOTHING (no drinks, nothing) being served I approached the wait staff to ask where our drinks were. My cocktail was made wrong (yet I was still charged for it!). Staff were very apologetic and I understand they were short staffed. The chef was really lovely, provided free bread & dip and personally came over with our meals. The meals once received were fantastic! We were offered a single cocktail to share and when we asked could we have a glass of wine was offered to share a single glass of wine. I thought perhaps could have splashed out and offered us each a glass of wine given the events of the night. It was like something out of Faulty Towers. Sincere compliments to the Chef who saved the night from being a complete and utter disaster! Unfortunately I would not recommend.

Lieu sympa, serveuses agréables. Les plats étaient succulents! Toute la carte donne envie!!! Nous avons mangé le filet canterburry angus et l'agneau. Le chimichurri était excellent!!! Malgré le fait que la cuisson de nos viandes n'était pas vraiment celle que nous pensions (peut etre notre faute car nous ne parlons pas très bien anglais...), les viandes étaient succulentes. Les accompagnements mériteraient un peu plus de générosité. La carte des cocktails est assez restreinte, c'est dommage. On a fini sur une note sucrée. Affogato et cheescake excellents! En bref, on recommande sans hésiter!

Service excellent, meal quality outstanding and excellent value for $

Food was great. A little better /more extensive wine list would have been good, especially with some heavier reds to go with the amazing ribs.

When you go to a top rated steak restaurant, you expect to be served a perfectly prepared steak and that's what I got at Jaba. The sauces need a bit more attention and maybe the inclusion of duck fried chips served with a dusting of parmesan. Lovely location, lovely and quaint inside. The wait staff are all beautiful young ladies who provided excellent customer service. Well done Jaba.

Good food. But the rest was not what I was expecting. We booked a table for two to celebrate my 50th anniversary. Stated that in the booking. Not even a happy birthday. When we paid, the waitress turned away immediately and didn’t even said thank you.

Our server was excellent. Everyone worked together as a team. We shared the Tomahawk which was delicious and perfectly prepared.

Amazing steaks the charcoal oven, shame the ribs were all sold out, but the salmon was great. Thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Steaks were great. Service was so-so and I didn’t like the interior of the restaurant. Atmosphere wasn’t that of a steakhouse. Washrooms were unimpressive

Great service. We sat inside - nice atmosphere. Was glad we booked a table as it was busy! Enjoyed our mains - rib eye and lamb rump. Dessert was yum - pannacotta with just the right wobble and the chocolate brownie on the sizzle plate.

Great food and service! The service was particularly good and we were never waiting long.

A small,intimate restaurant located in the redeveloped area next to the ne stadium. Lovely atmosphere, great service from all tge young ladies. We had 2 steaks and a half rib rack - all were well presented and beautifully cooked. We shared 2 sides between 3 and had plenty. No doubt this place will really take off when the stadium opens if they maintain these high standards.

Will definitely be back. Great service and best stake in chch
